The Nevada Beginning Farmer and Rancher program is buzzing with excitement to host a Beginning Beekeeping class via Zoom on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6, 2021. Lindsay Chichester, Douglas County Extension Educator, started a beekeeping program in Gardnerville in 2020 and currently has four hives that she is overwintering.

This brings the total number of cases to 10,723, with 6,761 recoveries and 188 deaths; 3,774 cases remain active.

CARSON CITY — Due to expected overnight snow and cold weather, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety are anticipating dangerous road conditions in the Carson City, Washoe County and Douglas County areas on Wednesday morning.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The agency is also reporting 16 new cases and 133 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region.

It looks like winter driving conditions are finally here. We are expected to have blizzard like conditions in and around Carson City for the rest of the week. Carson City Sheriff’s Office encourages drivers to be responsible and exercise caution while driving.

As a result of the impending snowstorm, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. The National Weather Service is predicting one of the most impactful winter storms in recent years to hit our area. Periods of heavy snow and strong winds are expected tonight. The storm threatens to be disruptive to travel throughout the region.
