Letter to the editor:
It was with great sadness that I read the Nevada Appeal report (Oct.6,) “Political Speech Leads to Pushing at Forum”. For many months I’ve tolerated mean, thoughtless tirades by a handful of people opposed to positive change in our capital city community. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, however negative and uninformed it might be.

There is a problem with some American sports fans. We all need to realize that there will be a loser in every game no matter what sport you watch. The loser of course takes more of the spotlight when the games mean a lot more than just a regular season game.

Yesterday, the Saint Louis Cardinals made one of the greatest comebacks in sports' history by beating the Washington Nationals in a decisive, winner-take-all, Game 5. The Nationals got off to a fantastic start by jumping out to a 6-0 lead. The Cardinals never gave in, and slowly chipped away at the Nationals’ lead.

When you talk to chukar hunters in Nevada you hear about how challenging the hunt actually is. You climb up steep mountains with rough terrain trying to catch a bird that is fast and clever and seems to take great joy in taunting you. It makes you wonder why they do it.
“There are so many reasons why chukar hunting is so popular in Nevada,” said Chris Vasey, Western Region outdoor educator at the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). “It really is the thrill of the chase. I can honestly say there are very few things as rewarding as getting your limit in chukar.”

Here are the most recent fish plants in Western Nevada by the Department of Wildlife:
Oct. 02: The Truckee River in Washoe County: 3,990 rainbow trout: 9.8 inches in length.
For information, call the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Headquarters in Reno at (775) 688-1500 during regular business hours.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife has gone back to the drawing board and completely redesigned the Water Development Atlas into an exceptional new tool for sportsmen and wildlife enthusiasts. The new Wildlife Water Development Atlas includes 160 full color, detailed map pages covering the entire State of Nevada. Each map page is drawn at 1:144,000 scale (one inch on the page is approximately equal to 2 ¼ miles on the ground), which means that each map now offers much more detail than any previous Water Development Atlas.

Hello All: I will be starting a sports blog right here on Carson Now. This will be my opinions on sports news that is happening today and in the future. I will cover both local and national stories. I would love to make this a public forum as well. I always love to hear other's opinions on the same stories. I only ask that each and every one who reads and lets their opinions be heard respect each other as well as my views as well. I will always respect another's view. This should be extremely fun for all, and I cannot wait to get started.
Best Regards,
Chris J Graham
