Carson City Republican Party will hold its general meeting on June 22, 2023, starting at 6:30 PM at the Carson City Casino Fandango, 3800 S. Carson Street. 6:30 to 7 PM is socializing, with 7 PM our meeting coming to order.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday reports came in that the road near Koontz and Silver Sage and near the Post Office appear to be “caving in” presumably due to flooding.

Motorists must avoid this area for their own safety.

A sudden hail storm Saturday afternoon caused flooding in some neighborhoods and covered downtown in an icy blanket reminiscent of Christmas’s morning, with hail larger than peas in size.

UPDATE 3:47 p.m.: Flood waters are covering the road in front of the high school along Saliman including the apartment complex and the entrance to Mills Park.

UPDATE 2:58 p.m.: Mudslides reported on Curry Street near Galaxy Theater. A report of three feet of water shooting out of the ground near the Skate Park in Mills Park is being investigated.

Other counties are being called to respond to numerous incidents of weather related emergencies.

Just after 2 p.m. Friday, a potential gas leak was reported in the 500 block of Moses Street in Carson City.

First responders are en route to the scene. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area while the investigation takes place.
