He left office in disgrace after a highly publicized affair with his Argentine mistress. He told his staff and the press he was “hiking the Appalachian trail” in June 2009 when he was in fact visiting his mistress, in Argentina.
He was considered a potential 2012 Republican presidential contender before a scandal ended his political aspirations.
Instead of doing the honorable act of resigning from his political office, he refused this option and finished his term as governor, leaving office in 2010.

This is a story that has been flying under the radar for a few months now, told to me in confidential discussions with city officials. But it looks like a newspaper in Twin Falls, Idaho has put the story out in the open, since that community is also vying to land the facility.
"Chobani, a New York-based manufacturer of Greek yogurt, has visited Twin Falls as well as Carson City, Nev., in recent months in its efforts to find a spot for a facility near the West Coast," according to the story.

Some things seem so obvious after they've been pointed out to you. I was pointed to a Web file from a Boston writer, Glenn MacDonald, a quantitative analyst using quantitative statistical methods, that has a fascinating study of Boston area public schools. After much study of Boston Magazine's ranking of 135 schools, he came up with a load of mistakes that no publication should ever make.

I missed the first two iterations of "Paranormal Activity," so I was a little lost looking at No. 3, now playing at the Fandango Galaxy in Carson City. I also missed the first five minutes so I was a little baffled by the repetitious scenes of nothing happening as a video camera scanned two rooms.
This is a prequel to the first two go-arounds and while it has its share of things that go bang in the night, it is more confusing than amusing or scary.

Do you have apples ripening on your tree? A local group of volunteer fruit foragers would love to come by and pick the ripening fruit. The Fruit Barons harvest unclaimed fruit and donate surplus to a number of local organizations. This year they will also recover apples to make cider for a social event hosted by Healthy Trees. Persons with ripening fruit can bring in their own apples or call the Fruit Barons at 220-6330 or 224-3827, who will donate some of the apples for a cider-making event to be held on Saturday, 5 November, 10 a.m., at 2578 South Curry Street, #5, in Carson City.
