A Carson City convenient store owner faces a misdemeanor battery charge after he allegedly poked a man with an aluminum baseball bat and then kicked him in the back after the man confessed to stealing.
According to the arrest report, deputies were contacted Tuesday at about 7 p.m. by the alleged victim who told authorities he was battered by the 19-year-old owner of the Woodside Drive convenient store.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified Claude Brown, 57, of Fallon, as the man who died in the two-vehicle accident that happened Tuesday morning on Highway 50, eight miles east of Fallon.
The driver of the silver Toyota Highlander, Sidney Ellen Imeson, 50, was transported via ground ambulance from Banner Churchill Community Hospital to Renown Regional Medical Center where she is currently listed in fair condition, according to the NHP.
Alcohol did not play a part in accident and investigators are looking into whether fatigue was a factor.
Sixteen Northern Nevada high school graduates were recently awarded $1000 scholarships from Greater Nevada Credit Union. Over 100 students applied for the program which the Credit Union has offered to local students for the past decade.
“We are always proud to help some of the region’s finest students with financial support for their continuing education,” said Wally Murray, President/CEO for Greater Nevada Credit Union.

The Nevada Highway Patrol sent this update on the fatal accident this morning involving two vehicles near Fallon. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.
"This morning, at approximately 7:05 a.m., troopers from the NHP-Fallon District were dispatched to an automobile accident on Highway 50 near mile marker 32, approximately 8 miles east of Fallon.

One person is dead after an accident this morning eight miles east of Fallon on Highway 50.
A male driver was killed in the two-vehicle accident and a female sustained injuries and was transported to Bannar Churchill Memorial Hospital, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Her condition is unknown at this time. Eastbound traffic was closed temporarily because of the accident, which was reported shortly after 7 this morning.

Many teens looking for a jobs face the added challenge of finding work in during a recession.
Teen jobs have gone down since the mid 2000s, because more people — including out of work adults — are competing for the same jobs that traditionally went to teenagers.
Older workers are now commonly found working as grocery store baggers, fast food workers, amusement park staff, etc. Now that school is out more teens are looking for summer jobs.
