The 18th annual Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Golf Tournament, an annual favorite of locals and visitors, is set for Monday, Oct. 17 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. The entire $195 entry fee goes directly to the Boys & Girls Club to continue its work with local children. Last year the BGCLT raised over $35,000 with this year’s goal to break $45,000.

Whether it’s taking in motorcycle rides, local theater, a ghost walk, wine tasting or a charity golf tournament, there’s plenty of events lined up this weekend in Carson City. Six full-size pickup trucks took a wild ride on a 16-foot-high steel bridge when it shook violently in a series of never-before-conducted experiments to investigate the seismic behavior of a curved bridge with vehicles in place. The 145-foot-long, 162-ton steel and concrete bridge was built atop four large, 14-foot by 14-foot, hydraulic shake tables in the University of Nevada, Reno’s world-renowned Large-Scale Structures Earthquake Engineering Laboratory.

Warren Engine Company #1 will unveil a recently resorted circa 1900 chemical fire cart at the group's fundraising gala on Friday, Sept. 23, 5-9 p.m. in the Nevada Room at the Governors Mansion.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit invites residents and visitors to attend the Kokanee Salmon Festival, which celebrates the annual fall migration of Kokanee salmon at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. The event takes place the weekend of October 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The Visitor Center is located three miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89.
