The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with Avel eCare for Virtual Crisis Care, adding another, and much needed mental health resource in Lyon County. In conjunction with Lyon County Human Services’ Mobil Outreach Safety Team (MOST), and NAMI Western Nevada, Avel eCare provided training this week to Sheriff’s Office personnel from the Patrol, Detention, and Communication Divisions, as well as Lyon County Juvenile Probation Officers in the use of this new technology.

Carson Montessori students watch the egg drop competition

All students at Carson Montessori gathered this week around the scissor lift eagerly anticipating the start of the Engineering EGGstravaganza. Each grade created eight carefully engineered contraptions to house and protect their prized egg for the school-wide egg drop.

Reno physician, Dennis Yamamoto, MD, married his wife, Mary (Oberski) Yamamoto, in 1976. Both from large families, their wedding boasted a guest list of 375 people and it was a multi-day affair. It was a big start to what would be nearly 45 years of marriage as they pursued careers — Dr. Yamamoto in medicine and Mary in social work — raised their twin children and celebrated becoming grandparents to four grandsons.
