Ford announced Tuesday that Nevada entered two additional opioid litigation settlements, bringing in tens of millions of dollars to assist with abating the opioid crisis in the state. Nevada will receive $32.2 million from a multistate settlement with Walmart and $1.5 million from a settlement — not negotiated as part of a multistate deal — with American Drug Stores. In addition, the Mallinckrodt bankruptcy plan has been finalized, resulting in $1.8 million for Nevada.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor suspicion of violating a domestic violence temporary protection order, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.

The Nevada Humane Society recently assisted in a large scale rescue effort of nearly 300 abused dogs and puppies in Nye County.

While many rescued dogs were taken to different parts of the country to rehabilitate or be adopted, many found their forever homes in our local region of Northern Nevada.

The Nevada Department of Corrections is reporting a hunger strike among some offenders at Ely State Prison.

Those with Spectrum/Charter phone service will be unable to call 911 emergency dispatch beginning Monday night at 11 p.m. through 8 a.m. Tuesday morning due to maintenance being done by the communication company.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the sheriff's office and the Carson City Fire Department were alerted Monday afternoon about the 911 phone line being unavailable to those with the Spectrum phone service. This impacts Spectrum/Charter customers only and does not impact incoming call capabilities from other phone and mobile services, said Furlong.

If so, could Kemp become the "traditional party renaissance" so critically needed for Republicans, rather than DeSantis and many other wannabes?

UPDATE: National Weather Service forecasters says stormy activity remains possible through Monday morning, with light snowfall accumulations (1 inch or less). However, some areas that receive localized heavier snow showers may accumulate several inches, particularly across the foothills of the Carson Range, Virginia City Highlands and the Surprise Valley.

A winter storm continues Sunday at Lake Tahoe and Sierra bringing gusty wind and several inches of snow. Lower valley areas may see rain and light snow showers later Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
