Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, Annie, Jr. recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannigan.

Performances of Annie, Jr. will be held December 2 & 9 at 7 pm, December 3 & 10 at 4 pm and 7 pm and December 4 & 11 at 4 pm at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson Street. On October 28th the Readers Theater Small Group of the First United Methodist Church will present Oscar Wilde’s play “The Importance of Being Earnest” at 7:00 p.m.

The play originally opened in London on Valentine’s Day, 1895 to rave reviews, which have continued to this day. A comedy, it is a sharp commentary on upper class British society, of which Wilde himself was a member. Here he criticizes (satirizes or mocks) the institution of marriage, as well as love, for its emphasis on appearance instead of substance.
