Nevada has made a name for itself for manufacturing lithium-ion batteries and eclectic vehicle components — and now — add renewable diesel to the top of that list. One of only a handful of advanced renewable fuel plants built in the U.S. is launching operations at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in Storey County, Nev.

A 24-year-old Washington State man was arrested Friday on multiple charges after a traffic stop led to the seizure of multiple illegal firearms, 7 pounds of marijuana and cash, according to the Nevada State Police.

The Friends of the Nevada State Museum will open a one night only speakeasy as their annual fundraiser on Thursday, September 22. The speakeasy opens at 4 pm in the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion.

The theme is the 1920's and will feature suffragists, flappers, and gangsters.

A community workout and Open House to showcase our newly expanded training facility.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Boardroom of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

We have opened the 2022-2023 youth bowling sign-ups for all three locations: Carson Lanes Family Fun Center, Gold Dust West and Wink's Silver Strikes. Bowling will start on September 10 at all three houses.

Bowling is open to all abilities and ages 3-18* (*age as of August 1)

Hello fellow anglers. It is that time of year again when we use the "Hoot Owl" method of fishing on our rivers and streams.

Due to low waters and excessive heat in many areas, it is recommended to fish only in the early morning or late evenings.

This will reduce the stress on the fish during the heating of the day. Which in turn, allows one to properly catch and release fish in a safer manner.

Last week Renee and I took a four day trip to Alpine County. We set up a base camp at the Carson River Resort.

Darryl Fisher, a Dayton, Nev. resident and founder of Carson City, Nev.-based nonprofit Dream Flights, was awarded the Ford Oval of Honor Thursday night, July 29, 2022, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum, Vandalia, Ohio.

He was among four recipients, including ret. U.S. Air Force Colonel Colleen Ryan, ret. U.S. Air Force Colonel Cassie Barlow, and ret. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Richard V. Reynolds.

Family members, student athletes, coaches, teachers, administrators and thoughtful members of the community gathered in Carson City surrounding the Carson High School Football Field last night for a candlelight vigil to honor and remember CHS Freshman Football Coach John March.

Friday, August 26, Alpine Kids Ministries will take a tour of the pit area, and watch the races at Fuji Park Fairgrounds. The Event is a Police and Fire benefit, benefitting local police and fire organizations. Last year’s event was wildly successful in raising over $4,000 for the South Fork Fire organization. This year is expected to be even bigger and Outlaw Fla Trac is proud to host Alpine Kids Ministries on this glorious evening.

A Carson City judge has blocked Reno attorney and former Republican gubernatorial candidate Joey Gilbert’s effort to re-do the 2022 primary election, finding that “no competent evidence” was presented that would warrant the extraordinary changes Gilbert sought.

UPDATE: The suspect in the theft of a stolen wallet and cell phone, Anthony Adcock, has admitted to the crime and turned some of the property over to Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives. The case will be submitted to the Carson City District Attorney's Office for an arrest warrant for grand larceny.

MARKLEEVILLE, Calif. — When rain fell over the Tamarack Fire burn scar last week, causing the mud to flow down roads and hills, it did much more than wash out SR-89, the main artery between Markleeville and the rest of Alpine County.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff'd deputies were called Tuesday afternoon to a vehicle crash that involved a youth riding a bicycle in the area of Long and Saliman streets. No serious injuries were reported.

Through Sept. 8, the Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting the public to comment on planned transportation projects and improvements as outlined in the Annual Work Program and annual update of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.
