The following is a summary of some of the arrests made by the Carson City Sheriff's deputies, March 6-8.

Members of the newly formed Carson Nugget Development Advisory Committee received an extensive briefing tonight on where the project is now, and what still needs to be worked out.

Nugget President Steve Neighbors and project consultant Mark Lewis were on hand to answer the committee's questions about the project before a capacity audience in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center.

One of the first questions I heard raised about the Nugget redevelopment project had to do with who would own the land.

Some people have the false impression that the Carson Nugget is donating the land to the city.

As it has been proposed, the new library, public plaza and other pieces paid for by the city would be sitting on land owned by the foundation created by Nugget President Steve Neighbors, in accordance with the wishes of late owner Mae Adams.

Community news belongs to the community.

This is the concept that led me to develop Carson Now, the idea that for a news organization to truly serve the community, it needed to belong to the community.

Part of this idea comes from my experience of being on the front lines as corporate media cutbacks resulted in communities not being well served in terms of news coverage.

So my idea was to create Carson Now as a nonprofit organization, whose mission was limited to serving the community. Nonprofit media organizations are a fairly new development, with sites like Voice of San Diego and MinnPost leading the way.

Maybe Brian Barnett will hit 20 home runs this season after all.

When it comes to quality being job one, Dick Campagni's Capital Ford in Carson City wants the Carson High School boys baseball team to have all the equipment it needs to make it a winning season.
