Widespread outage across Douglas County affects more than 14,300 NV Energy customers

UPDATE: As of 7:48 p.m., there are 6,901 NV Energy customers in Douglas County without power.

UPDATE: As of 6:30 p.m., there are 8,953 NV Energy customers without power.

UPDATE: As of 5:30 p.m., 10,832 customers were without power, according to NV Energy.

NV Energy reports more than 14,300 customers are without power across Douglas County on Tuesday afternoon.

Fraudulent invoices emailed to Carson City customers

The Carson City Community Development Department is advising that someone is sending falsified invoices to customers and requesting that the funds be wired to a bank account. The invoices are sent by email, and the sender impersonates a member of the City’s staff.

There are currently 103 animals being housed at the Carson City campus of the Nevada Humane Society following a large influx of stray pickups whose owners have not come looking for them.

In total, there are 53 dogs, 49 cats, and two rabbits looking for homes.
