The name of the motorcycle rider killed in a head-on crash in Carson City on Tuesday has been identified. Vincent Wayne Gilpatrick, 33, of Carson City, died from injuries in the crash, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. A juvenile driving a Jeep Cherokee was taken to the hospital. Gilpatrick was a former corrections guard. His family is from the Ely area.

Carson City Soroptimist will host an Intro to Soroptimist Social Thursday, Nov. 8. Local business women, those recently retired from a profession, and those just embarking on a career are invited. UPDATE 5:30PM: A motorcycle and a vehicle reportedly collided this afternoon in Carson City, killing the motorcyclist. The accident was reported at around 4:50 p.m. at Camballeria Drive and Carson River Road. The accident victim, a man who has not yet been identified, was reported to be "not moving" and Care Flight was called.
The call was cancelled because the motorcyclist died from injuries, according to Carson City emergency personnel at the scene and confirmed by Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Greater Nevada Credit Union announced that it has three positions available on the Board of Directors for three-year terms beginning March 19, 2013. Applications for the three positions are being accepted until November 12, 2012.
The Board of Directors sets the strategic course for the credit union and oversees its general activities. Directors serve as volunteers and therefore receive no compensation.
