CARSON CITY – The state’s largest physician advocacy group has sent a letter to Gov. Brian Sandoval and all 63 lawmakers saying that 15 percent cuts in Medicaid reimbursements will make it even more difficult for some Nevadans to receive proper medical care.

CARSON CITY – Legislators on money committees today approved on a party-line vote a 4.8 percent salary cut to state and higher education employees.
The proposal would include a 2.3 percent cut through furloughs – about six days per year – and a 2.5 percent salary reduction.
Gov. Brian Sandoval had proposed in his budget a 5 percent salary cut to state and higher education workers.

The Nevada Division of Forestry State Tree Nursery in Washoe Valley is opening for the season Thursday, May 12. The nursery is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3 pm Thursday through Saturday until Oct. 15, 2011.
The nursery is designed to assist landowners by providing plant material suitable for conservation uses such as, but not limited to, windbreaks, soil erosion control, water conservation, and wildlife habitats.

Nevada's casinos had a good month in March, posting a 5.13 percent increase over prior year according to figures released today by the Gaming Control Board.

The increase was led by a 12.89 percent increase on Las Vegas Strip, the state's largest gaming region. The Strip's blockbuster month made up for the declines posted at most of the other gaming regions. South Lake Tahoe posted the worst March numbers, a decline of 29.8 percent over prior year.

The Carson Valley region that includes Carson City posted a modest gain of .93 percent.
