UPDATE SEPT. 19: An update has been posted providing the suspect's side of the story, who claims that deputy's were untruthful in the report and that he was actually the one battered by the Public Works' employee, not the other way around. To read that story, click here.

UPDATE: The police report stated that the employee was removing "signs on city property on street poles" which Carson Now mistakenly inferred as being street signs. However, it has come to our attention that the signs being removed were actually property of the suspect. We will have more updates to follow.

A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of E. Winnie Lane and N. Roop St. Thursday morning for burglary of a motor vehicle after allegedly attacking a Public Work’s employee for removing street signs.

The Peace Poster Contest is an international contest that encourages children, ages 11 to 13, to creatively express what peace means to them. The 2023-2024contest theme is “Dare to Dream.”

A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Woodside Drive for child neglect, a gross misdemeanor, after deputies found his 16-year-old mentally ill son sleeping in an abandoned trailer.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a property on Fairview Dr. just before 7:30 a.m. one report of an unwanted subject. The property owner had located a 16-year-old boy sleeping in an abandoned motorhome on the property.

A large fire ripped through the Kit Kat Ranch brothel in Mound House on Thursday evening. According to Lyon County Dispatch, as of 7:30 p.m. the fire was active with crews working to extinguish the flames.

This Saturday's drum circle is on the west end of Mills Park in Carson City, near the tennis courts and Aquatic Center, by the brook at Oxoby Parking Loop. Everyone is welcome, accompanied children through Seniors, with any musical experience or none.
