This is my last article for 2023, but I’ll be back early next year. I thought I would look back on all the gardening experiences I had this year. The year started less than auspiciously. We were without power, water or heat for five days. That was followed by flooding, which provided our annual rainfall in one week.

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director David Bugli, will open its 40th season on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at 4 p.m., with a concert, “Life begins at Forty,” at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater.

This will be the Symphony's 220th concert. Featured guest soloist Eric Fassbender will play Mozart's Bassoon Concerto in B-flat Major with the orchestra.

The Rotary Club of Carson City awarded this year’s Carson City School District’s Professional Development Center Grant to the “Literacy and Love of Reading through Social Studies” project.

The proposal was submitted by the District’s Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator Brittany Witter. Club members surprised Witter with the award at the school district offices this week.
