While Homestead Holidays may not be happening this year due to potential weather issues, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a taste of a rustic holiday treat!

The Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch in partnership with the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department are offering mule- and horse-pulled wagon rides at the ranch from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17.

In another season marked by unwavering dominance, and for the second year in a row, the Carson Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team finished the season undefeated. They cemented their basketball legacy when they beat Alder Creek from Truckee in the championship game of the Tah-Neva District Basketball Tournament in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night.

Come visit an all time favorite event, the annual miniature show at East Fork Gallery in downtown Gardnerville. This year, the images are 8" x 10" and smaller and there are 47 entries. The show ends on Dec. 23.

There's two days left to donate a new, unwrapped toy so that local kids will have toys to unwrap on Christmas morning. The Northern Nevada Dream Center's third annual Dream Christmas Toy Drive is in full swing and donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 1-18 can be donated at locations listed below through Dec. 15.
