With the rev of mighty V-8 engines and enough polished chrome to require a good pair of sunglasses, the annual Silver Dollar Car Classic is the capital city's all-out celebration of the American automobile.
Today through Sunday, Mills Park in Carson City turns into a mecca of some of the finest hot rods ever made, with more than 400 restored, tricked-out and souped-up cars and trucks on display under the canopy of dozens of shade trees.

Music in the Market continues today, Saturday, through 1 p.m. at the Third and Curry Street Farmer's Market. Meanwhile, Saturday night at plan:b microlounge inside of Sassafras will feature award-winning jazz musician Joe Berry. While on Sunday it is Jazz Picnic in the Park.

CARSON CITY – Nevada finds itself at the bottom of another economic analysis, this one related to entrepreneurial activity.
The State Entrepreneurship Index, a nationwide analysis and ranking system that shows how states compare in areas of business formation, patents and related activities, shows Nevada dropping a major 40 spots, from 7th in 2008 to 47 in the newest rankings released in July but using mostly 2010 data.

A quick update from today's Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting: The Carson City Ghost Walk, which provides entertaining tours of the city's historical district, failed to get enough votes to approve $12,000 in city redevelopment funds to continue the tours. The funding required four of the five supervisors to vote in favor, but it only received three votes.
