In what is becoming a grim trend, three additional middle-school aged children have been arrested for making shooting threats, all of which occurred on Wednesday.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong sat down Thursday morning to discuss the recent uptick in threats, and the arrests that have followed.

On Wednesday at around 8:30 a.m. the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, Special Investigations and Major Crimes Units, with the assistance of multiple outside agencies, simultaneously executed search warrants at two separate locations in Silver Springs and Stagecoach in relation to a month’s long investigation into an illegal marijuana growing operation.

One elementary school in Carson City is helping foster trust and strengthen relationships between students and law enforcement. Sheriff Ken Furlong and officers from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office assembled this morning for “Donuts & Deputies” at Mark Twain Elementary where students, parents and teachers had an opportunity to meet local deputies in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere while enjoying delicious donuts together.
