Surprise someone with a front yard full of bright pink flamingos! For a donation you can have a flock of flamingos migrate to a residential front lawn in Carson City.
"Flockers" will deliver the birds to unsuspecting yards where they have been directed to roost, usually arriving unnoticed in the cloak of darkness. The recipient will be left with an explanation and care instructions. After 24-48 hours the Flamingo Advanced Retrieval Team (F.A.R.T.) will remove the flamingos and bring them to the next "victim."

At least two people sustained non-life threatening injuries and one was treated at the scene after a car drove into The Eye Center at 1299 Mountain Street in Carson City. The accident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Witnesses to the accident said they heard a crash and saw that a car was inside the storage area of the building.
Two people were inside the car that was in the building. Both were able to get out though one person was partially trapped. A Jeep was clipped by the car before it went into the building. Debris from the accident area was scattered about 30-40 feet.

A Carson City woman was arrested and faces felony burglary charges after allegedly stealing jewelry from her mother.
Jaqueline Cunningham, 22, was arrested in the 2800 block of Highway 50 on Oct. 1. According to the arrest report, officers responded to a larceny call in which a woman reported her jewelry missing.
Authorities contacted a local pawn shop and it was determined that Cunningham had pawned $1,232 worth of jewelry. The jewelry was recovered and identified from the mother of the woman who reported it missing.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has been on the front lines of fighting drugs his entire 35 year career. Lately, it has taken a turn for the worse. In the past few years, he's seen something that's become all too common: "Very young kids just out of high school overdosing, lying at home on their bed, and they've passed away.
Drug abuse here is more fatal than ever. After programs were successful in fighting the epidemic of meth in Nevada, heroin has taken its place — and it's a deadlier replacement.

High school teachers and students are invited to get involved in Nevada Poetry Out Loud, the dynamic poetry program that is structured similarly to the National Spelling Bee, but focuses on literary heritage through memorization and performance of classic and contemporary poetry. Registration for The Eighth Annual Nevada Poetry Out Loud competition is open to all Nevada public, private, charter, parochial and alternative schools and home school associations through Dec. 1.

A bicyclist sustained injuries Wednesday after reportedly being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of College Parkway and Carson streets in Carson City.
The accident was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Carson City Fire Department EMTs arrived at the scene and reported an ambulance wasn't needed. However a few minutes later an ambulance was requested. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies re-routed traffic around the accident. The age of the victim and whether it was a male or female is unknown.
The initial call into dispatch was that a truck hit the cyclist.
