Food For Thought, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healthy food to hungry children in Carson City, Silver Springs and parts of Douglas County, has moved its headquarters to a more accessible location.
Food for Thought is now located at the NorthTown Plaza, 3246 North Carson Street, Suite 118 in Carson City.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has released more information into two deadly vehicle accidents this weekend that resulted in four fatalities on Highway 395 in Douglas County. The accidents happened within a few hours of each other. The first accident, in which three people died, was reported at 11:45 p.m. Saturday night near Leviathan Mine Road on Highway 395.

CARSON CITY — Walter Samasko Jr., a recluse, died at home in May, but his body wasn’t discovered until June, when neighbors complained of the smell coming from his house. There was only $200 in his bank account. But there was a $7 million surprise at home.
As the house was being cleaned for sale, officials discovered gold bars and gold coins stored in boxes in the garage and in the house. There were so many coins that Carson City Clerk Alan Glover used a wheelbarrow to haul the gold to his truck and deposit it for safekeeping.

Four people are dead in two overnight accidents, believed to be alcohol related, on Highway 395 in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accidents happened within a few hours of each other. The first accident, in which three people died, was reported at 11:54 p.m. Saturday night near Leviathan Mine Road on Highway 395.

Here is the Carson City area road construction and maintenance report for the week of Sept. 17-23.
There will be lane closures on Carson Street between 8th Street and Musser Street due to maintenance from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, Sept. 16, and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 20.

In other areas:
— There will be traffic control on N. Roop Street from Hot Springs Road to Winnie Lane due to the construction of bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Minor delays are possible.

The banks of the Carson River through Carson City are up for a good scrubbing on Saturday, Sept. 15. As part of the 19th annual National Public Lands Day, the Carson River Cleanup, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Carson City and the Bureau of Land Management, will focus on areas around Brunswick Canyon and Prison Hill Recreation area.
To get in on the cleanup, meet at the BLM-Carson City District Office's west parking lot, located at 5665 Morgan Mill Road at Deer Run Road, three blocks south of U.S. Highway 50 on the east side of Carson City along the Carson River, at 8 a.m.
