If you are a trout fisherman and are new to our area, you may not be aware that some of our best Lahontan Cutthroat Trout fishing is at Pyramid Lake in the month of March.
Pyramid Lake (which is roughly the same surface size as Lake Tahoe) is about 30 miles north of Reno-Sparks, and it contains Lahontan Cutthroat Trout that run into “Double Digits” in weight.
The lake is the terminus of the Truckee River which begins at Lake Tahoe.
Pyramid Lake is approximately 15 miles long, 11 miles wide and measures about 350 feet deep at its deepest point.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Joseph Anthony Rodgers, 21, a Sparks resident, at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the 1900 block of North Carson Street. Rodgers was arrested for felony allegations of possession of a stolen vehicle and a probation and parole violation. He was also arrested on a misdemeanor allegation of violation of a protection order. No bail has been set because of the probation violation.

Deputies also made the following misdemeanor arrests:

  • A 27-year-old Dayton woman for two contempt of court warrants in her name.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following suspects for felony allegations or warrants:

  • Gregory Scott johnson, 38, a service tech from Carson City, on allegations of use of money derived unlawfully when a bill he attempted to use at a casino was discovered to be a counterfeit. Bail is set at $7,500.

CARSON CITY – A meeting of the State Apprenticeship Council was cancelled today because of a lack of a quorum, and the chairman of the panel said the appointed members will be surveyed to ensure they can commit to attending the quarterly meetings.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals for felony or gross misdemeanor violations from Friday:

  • Brett Steven Jones, 32, an electrician from Carson City, for a felony parole and probation hold in his name. No bail has been set.
  • Jeremy Randall Hoover, 22, a Brentwood, Calif. resident, for a gross misdemeanor allegation of violation of a suspended sentence. Bail is $1,000 cash-only.

CARSON CITY – State Sen. Greg Brower, R-Reno, today criticized his Democrat challenger for “quitting” on her constituents when she resigned her Senate seat and then filed to run against him. Brower is running for election to a full four-year term in what is now Washoe District 15 after the state’s legislative districts were redrawn following the 2010 census. Leslie, who was in the middle of a four-year term in what is now Senate District 13, formerly Washoe Senate 1, resigned when she moved into District 15. She then filed for election to the Senate 15 seat.
