A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 6:01 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Fifth Street. He faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after admitting to throwing a picture frame at his partner, hitting him in the head.

A man was extradited Tuesday from California to Carson City to appear on a felony drug charge. Gary Lee Taylor, 35, faces a warrant charge of trafficking a schedule 1 drug.

The warrant was issued out of Carson City First Judicial Court. He is being held without bail on the warrant. Taylor also has a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear in traffic court. Bail for that is $1,474.

In other arrests:
A Carson City man stopped Tuesday for suspicion of DUI was found to have a felony parole and probation hold and is in the Carson City Jail being held without bail awaiting extradition.

The Carson City-based Web of Support group will host the "Be a Santa to A Veteran" fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at Jimmy G's.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said Tuesday the state made the right decision when it decided to move forward with the creation of its own health exchange to comply with the new federal health care law.

Nevada has 513 people who have paid for or who have scheduled payments for health insurance. When the 1,484 people who have confirmed enrollments and who will soon get a bill in the mail are counted, the total is just under 2,000.

This is a final reminder that many nearby California waters will close to fishing on Friday, November 15.
So if you want to fish any of them, you better hustle because you are rapidly running out of time.
Those waters will not re-open until the last Saturday in April next year (April 26, 2014), and that is a long, long time to wait to wet your line.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. This week's inspections for the week ending Nov. 8 includes a meat, deli, produce and other departments of two retail grocers, restaurants, fast food restaurants and a bakery.

Did you know that the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council has ranked Nevada as the 3rd best tax system for business in the U.S.? They also ranked California as 45th!

Perhaps some folks don’t understand the big difference between Nevada and California. It’s really quite easy. Less regulation and lower taxes. In California, business is treated as the “enemy” and in Nevada; business is treated as a partner in helping bring in new jobs, money, growth, etc.

Thomas Holmes, father of Jasmine Holmes, who had left her Carson City home and had not been seen since Nov. 7, reports that his daughter was found safe and in good health Tuesday morning.

He said he would like to thank the Carson City community for forwarding the Facebook post about Jasmine, 14. She was located by family, friends and with the assistance of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, he said.
