Researcher takes up Avant-Garde, Wannabe Cowboys: Bohemians, Beatniks, and Hippies in Virginia City, Nevada

Engrid Barnett is an award-winning researcher, author, educator, and musician. She received a doctoral degree in geography from the University of Nevada, Reno, for her work on the unlikely but, nonetheless, strong influence of Virginia City on the 1960s psychedelic esthetic and cultural scene that would take San Francisco by storm in 1967.

During the past few years, she has come back to her favored roots and photographs anything that pleases her eye. Every photo is pleasing both visually and spiritually.

Casino Fandango plans to heat up Memorial Day weekend in Carson City with the community’s first Rockin’ Rib Fest, May 25 through May 28. The inaugural event marks the only Memorial Day rib fest in the region and will be the largest planned Memorial Day celebration in the community, organizers say.

Nevada Humanities Presents Author Julie Buntin in Northern Nevada

Nic infiltrates the factory in order to destroy it and ruin Melanie, as years before in school Mel would mke fun of Nic's homemade knickers. Nic vowed revenge and now is in a position to do just that!

Ceramic Sculpting at the Brewery Arts Center

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "High School Pic(ks) 2018" at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Thirty-two artists from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Tuesday, April 24, 5 – 7pm. The free exhibition is available to the public from April 15 – July 9, 2018, Mondays - Fridays, 8am – noon and 1-4pm.
