Pop Warner President: words 'taken out of context' and 'his hands are tied' following investigation
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 06/29/2023 - 1:33pmOn Thursday, Carson City Pop Warner President Austin Matthews issued a public statement regarding his previous statements given to Carson Now which led to calls for his resignation.
Matthews came under fire after he discussed the fact that convicted sex-offender Gabe Miles, who is married to the CCPW Cheer Coordinator, regularly attends games, practices, and even cross-state trips with the cheer team with support of the board. Miles admitted to and was convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old girl on several different occasions.

Just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a three car crash involving a head-on collision was reported with injuries at South Carson St. and the bottom of Spooner Junction.
Vehicles are currently blocking traffic.
Tahoe’s beach-cleaning robot is back in action to clear our beaches of litter
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 06/29/2023 - 9:24amThe League to Save Lake Tahoe and ECO-CLEAN Solutions are kicking off the 2023 summer season by expanding their robot-powered, beach-cleaning initiative to cover entire Tahoe beaches.
The BEBOT – an all-electric, solar and battery-powered, sand-sifting robot – completed the first-ever full cleanup of a private beach in Lake Tahoe, combing through Tahoe Beach Club’s shoreline at Stateline, Nevada. More full beach cleanings at sites around the Lake are on tap for the coming months, and a second machine will be added to the robot fleet.
Theatrical Fundraiser Set for Carson City’s Meals on Wheels

Silver Springs man in custody following standoff, walking train tracks and firing off gun

Motorcycle crash reported southbound I-580 Wednesday afternoon

A motorcycle and a car were involved in the crash.
Injuries at this time are unknown.
Motorists should avoid the area.
First responders are enroute to the scene.
