Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of May 22-28, 2023. Closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:

Lane closures begin Monday on US-395 south of Gardnerville for NDOT roadside drainage

CARSON CITY — Lane closures and travel delays will be in place on U.S. 395 south of Gardnerville Monday, May 22 through June as the Nevada Department of Transportation repairs roadside erosion.

Fishing Report: Fishing begins in some bodies of water, other areas remain closed due to snow

Hello fellow anglers. Memorial day weekend is approaching. Before we get to our local fishing report, I have some information on the Lampe Park kids fishing day.

Crash reported at Lompa and Northridge Saturday evening

Just before 6 PM on Saturday evening, a crash was reported at the intersection of N. Lompa Lane and Northridge.

Traffic is currently blocked. Injuries are unknown but airbags have been deployed in both vehicles.

Nevada Humane Society hires new interim CEO following complaints of leadership; Carson City animal control, shelter unaffected

On May 15, the Nevada Humane Society, which also serves as animal control for Carson City, hired Jerleen Bryant as interim CEO following a number of complaints alleging prior leadership failures.

Carson City Public Works open house combines fun and education for all ages

In celebration of Public Works Week, the Carson City Public Works team held an Open House that allowed participants to play on equipment, enter raffles, and learn all about the systems that make our community run smoothly!

62 Carson High School Seniors Earn $7 Million in Scholarships

More than 60 Carson High School (CHS) seniors were recognized Thursday night for collectively earning more than $7 million in scholarships (a number that will continue to rise).

Their accomplishments, which highlighted the academic success of the Class of 2023, were celebrated in an awards ceremony Thursday, May 18, at the Carson City Community Center.

On Sept. 30 the final evening show with Mark Twain, dedicated to Steven Saylor and the volunteers of The Comstock Foundation for History & Culture will take place at Piper's Opera House.

5th Annual Kids to Parks Day held Saturday at Mills Park

The 5th annual Kids to Parks Day celebration featured music, food, outdoor activities from local organizations, educational booths, the Junior Park Ranger Olympics, and Junior Park Ranger Bike Races.

The whole community is invited to join in on this fun day of outdoor play.

Happening Now: Carson City Cops and Kids Open House taking place until 2 p.m.

Today. Saturday, May 20, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office is hosting its annual Cops and Kids Open House event. The event is free for all and takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
