Carson City Sheriff announces new coroner, discusses National Organ Donor Awareness Month

Ms. Pettie Braninburg was appointed to replace retiring Senior Coroner Ruth Rhines who had filled the position of Coroner at the Sheriff’s Office for over 21 years.
Carson City Rotarians host Urbanized Black Bear Expert for public lecture
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 03/31/2023 - 1:24pmIt’s spring, and that means our area bears will soon come out of hibernation. Tahoe Urbanized Bear Expert Toogee Sielsch wants residents to do everything they can to keep the bears out of neighborhoods and to limit their human encounters.
He will share his knowledge about local bear activity with members of the Rotary Club of Carson City and the public at the club’s next meeting on Tuesday, April 4th.

Axe throwing comes to Carson City at Carson Raceway Go-Kart track, now under new ownership

Axe throwing has risen in popularity throughout the country in recent years, in which participants stand inside of a safety zone much like a batting cage and throw axes towards a static target. While there are axe throwing locations in Reno, this is the first of its kind in the capital city.

This is a wonderful opportunity for adult writers of any level to learn from award-winning Nevada authors Suzanne Morgan Williams, Courtney Cliften, and Nevada Poet Laureate Gailmarie Pahmeier.
