Three Carson City teachers have lead roles in local musical production

Within the local Broadway production of “Into The Woods,” three Carson City teachers retain lead roles including Ms. Darby Beckwith, Drama teacher at Carson High, as Cinderella; Ms. Tara Rispin, Science teacher at Eagle Valley Middle School, as Little Red Riding Hood and Ms. Lynette Gardner, American Literature, Honors English and AVID IV teacher at Carson High School, as Jack's Mother from Jack and the Beanstalk.
Northern Nevada backyards and gardens: Keeping the sap-sucking whiteflies down

You notice many quick-flying tiny white critters darting around as you work in the garden. Turning over a leaf or two you see a collection of white insects on the undersides. These are whiteflies.
Friends of the Douglas County Library fall book sale

The fall book sale will be held Friday, Sept. 16, 4 to 7 pm. For members of Friends of Douglas County Library only. The following day is the public sale, which is Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

State adopts regulation for hand counting ballots, but it won’t affect Nye County

Partnership Carson City seeks volunteers to teach English as a Second Language
