Fatal crash in Gardnerville: NHP and Carson City Sheriff's Office assist in investigation

A fatal vehicle crash happened late Tuesday afternoon in the area of Tillman Lane and Patricia Drive that involved a pursuit with a parolee absconder in which a passenger in the suspect's vehicle died in the crash, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Western Nevada College President Vincent Solis announced on Tuesday his resignation effective Dec. 31, 2021 after he was officially named the next president of Brazosport College in Texas.
Lake Tahoe prescribed fire operations to resume after Thanksgiving holiday

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team will resume fall prescribed fire operations after the Thanksgiving holiday and will continue burning throughout much of the fall and winter season, conditions and weather permitting.

Sheriff Dan Coverley announced Tuesday he will seek a second term as Douglas County's sheriff.
“I am very proud to have served as Sheriff for Douglas County and would be honored to serve another term,” stated Sheriff Coverley. “The support from this community has been tremendous and I have been humbled by it. I can’t think of a better place to be in law enforcement.”

December 1, 2021 - 6:00pm Carson Valley Community Theater and the Douglas High School Drama Department have teamed up for a production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." Auditions are Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. and December 4 at 10:00 a.m. The cast includes both adults and teens.
Piano accompaniment is available or bring your own music.
Show dates are March 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 7:30, March 20 and 27 at 2:00pm.

With a significant drop in testing demand and an increase in providing vaccination, Carson City Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that it is halting community-based COVID-19 testing events and on-site testing at CCHHS.
NHP identifies truck and trailer owners in south Carson City fatal crash, more charges added

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the truck owner and trailer owner and has added more charges to the driver involved in the Nov. 9 multi-vehicle crash that killed a Dayton couple and injured several others at the junction of I-580, South Carson street and Highway 50.
