Lyon, Carson City emergency crews respond to Mound House for ATV injury crash

UPDATE: Highway 50 is open with no restrictions, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

Central Lyon Fire and Carson City Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to the area of Highway 50 East and Bunny Ranch Road in the Mound House area for an accident involving ATVs in which at least one person was severely injured.

Nevada’s minimum wage and daily overtime rates increase beginning July 1

CARSON CITY — The Office of the Labor Commissioner reminds Nevada employers that the minimum wage will increase effective July 1, 2021. Assembly Bill 456, passed by the 2019 Nevada Legislature, increases the minimum wage in increments of 75 cents annually through 2024.

A cold weather pattern will sweep briefly through the Sierra, western Nevada and Carson City region later Sunday, bringing brisk winds and cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Carson City deputy stops driver who used parking lot to avoid traffic signal, arrested for multiple offenses

On March 24, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop at the corner of Saliman and William Street on a driver that used the parking lot at Walgreens to avoid the signal.

Prospective and current Western Nevada College students can improve their financial situation for attending Western in the future by applying for scholarships through WNC Foundation. The deadline for students to fill out an application for scholarship consideration is Thursday, April 1.

Three teachers from CHS, art teacher Alisa Kuniya, ceramics teacher Karen McGraw, and myself entered student work into the Scholastic Art Awards, which boasts to be the longest running, most prestigious art competition for creative professionals in the nation.
