May 8 Quad County COVID-19 numbers include one new case; 400 negative results of non-symptomatic tests

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting one new positive case and three additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 111, with 72 recoveries and one death, 38 cases remain active.

Carson High School Announces Graduation Ceremony Plan for Class of 2020

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Carson High School’s graduation ceremony plan for the Class of 2020.

Carson High School will hold a drive-through ceremony Saturday, June 6, with varying times throughout the day where graduating seniors and their families will stay in their single vehicle until it's time for the graduate to exit their car, have their name announced on the loudspeaker as they walk across a stage erected on the northwest lawn (near the blue and white concrete ‘CHS’ sign), collect their diploma, have their picture taken, return to their vehicle and then proceed to the exit.

Vehicle Fire reported on Spooner Junction involving horse trailer

Just before 2 p.m. Friday afternoon a vehicle fire involving a horse trailer was reported 8 miles up the hill from Spooner.

The horses were removed from the trailer and were out of harms way.

However, the fire was reported to be spreading towards brush at 1:56 p.m.

Motorists should seek alternate routes.

Vehicle accident reported at Highway 50 and Lompa Friday afternoon

At 1:36 p.m. Friday afternoon a vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 50 and Lompa.

Whether there are injuries are unknown at this time.

Motorists should avoid the area or use caution if an alternative route is not possible.

Nevada Unemployment Initial Claims Total 28,550 for Week Ending May 2; Continued Claims Above 300,000

Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance totaled 28,550 for the week ending May 2, down 13,991 claims, or 32.9 percent compared to last week’s total of 42,541.

Lyon County announces intent to reopen no later than May 11 with Governor's Phase One Plan

The Governor issued the Guidelines and Protocols for Individuals and Businesses and Emergency Directive 18 Phase One Reopening Plan.

Based upon these directives Lyon County will implement the following by no later than 5:00 PM May 11, 2020.

Douglas County Shooting Range closed for maintenance

Beginning April 27, 2020 through May 15, 2020 the Douglas County Community Services Department will be closing the Douglas County Shooting Range for maintenance and safety enhancements.

Carson City man arrested for DUI after driving 95 in a 55 mph, attempting to run from scene

A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East for DUI first, speeding, failure to exercise due care, and reckless driving.

Carson City man arrested on felony warrant after deputies called to domestic battery

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 900 block of Woodside on a felony warrant out of Carson City Justice Court.

According to the report, Juan Gutierrez was arrested after deputies responded to a residence on Woodside on a report of a domestic battery after someone called dispatch stating they could hear a woman screaming.
