Nevada hoops: Men earn MW honors, 2nd-round loss for women

Three players from the Nevada men’s basketball team earned Mountain West Conference postseason media honors on Monday.

Carson City Library efforts help secure federal funding for libraries


The American Library Association honored Carson City Library and its cohorts for 2019 advocacy efforts, helping restore federal library funding after it was proposed to be eliminated for the third time last spring.

The Western Nevada College chapter of the National Student Nurses Association proudly presents our annual Spaghetti Feed, this Friday March 6th, 2020 from 5-8 pm.

Price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Please come hungry! During our family friendly event we will be hosting our silent auction comprised of items donated by many businesses’ in the Northern Nevada area.

We will also be drawing the winner of our annual 50/50 raffle; the winner will receive 50 percent of the proceeds and the winners of the raffles from years past have made anywhere from $600- $1000.

Carson City emergency crews respond to crash near Spooner Junction

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Monday afternoon to the area of Spooner Junction, I-580 and Highway 50 West, for a vehicle crash.

Carson City Health and Human Services is continuously monitoring the current outbreak of COVID-19, a disease caused by a new coronavirus first identified in China. To date, there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 in Nevada, and 0 people under investigation in Carson City, Douglas, and Lyon counties.

Preserving History: A Basic Workshop

The Nevada State Archives is providing a free basic preservation workshop on March 12, 2020 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The training will cover preserving documents and photos, storage methods for various types of records, as well as information about electronic records. No previous experience is required; this training is open to anyone who might be interested. The training will be held at the Nevada State Library and Archives Building, 100 N. Stewart Street, Carson City.
