Our primary goal right now is to reduce the number of animals housed at our shelters in an effort to avoid overcrowding should we need to restrict our services or close altogether.

During this time, extra precautions will be taken because of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Already strict standards of cleanliness and sanitizing have been heightened, and the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local and U.S. Government officials will be followed as closely as possible.
Douglas County declares state of emergency disaster in response to coronavirus

The declaration has been submitted to the State of Nevada and will allow regional partners to speed up the delivery of resources required to more effectively aid in requesting additional resources, aid in recovery, and meet the needs of the community during a time of crisis.

Carson City outlines department closures, services available in response to coronavirus threat

In close coordination with Carson City Health and Human Services, the City Manager’s Office along with City departments in an abundance of caution are coordinating the closure of some offices to take additional measures to slow the spread of respiratory viruses. Carson City Yoga Closed through end of March, Open House Postponed

The Open House that had been scheduled for March 21st has also been postponed. We will re-evaluate the situation as needed.
