Story Interpretation for Beginning Actors (Ages 6-9)

Bring your imagination and prepare for fun as young actors use basic improvisation and acting skills to write and direct their own fairy tale! Using well-known fairytales as a starting point, students will write, cast, and rehearse their own unique version while designing and constructing basic props and costumes. The 7-week session will culminate with a performance for friends and family.

Tuition: $120 ($110 BAC Members)
Wednesdays, 2-3:30pm, June 27th – August 15th (No class the week of July 4th/August 6th)

Vocal Performance Workshop (All ages)

It’s time to get ready for your next audition or performance! Participants will get a chance to hone their performance skills in front of a small but supportive group of peers, receive feedback, and learn to incorporate it. Participants may also choose to work in small groups to learn harmony and back-up singing techniques. Topics covered: Song interpretation, nerves and ‘stage fright,’ connecting to the song, connecting to the audience, song selection, and stage presence.

Improvisation for Teen Actors (ages 10-15)

This 7-week workshop series will introduce students to the basics of acting through theatre games, acting exercises, improvisation and scene work.
Focus will be on active participation. Students will engage in creative exercises to build self-confidence, as they develop imagination, creativity and self-expression.
These exciting classes will culminate with in-class demonstrations where students share their experience with family and friends (Final presentations August 19th/and or 2oth).

Tuition: $140 ($130 BAC Members)

Nevada’s Public Employee Pension Plan Gets Low Marks In Latest Pew Study

CARSON CITY – The financial health of Nevada’s public employee pension plan is cause for serious concern because it is only 70 percent funded as of fiscal year 2010 with a $10 billion gap, a national organization reported this week.

The Pew Center on the States said the funding ratio in Nevada is below the 80 percent benchmark that fiscal experts recommend for a sustainable program.

Infant death under investigation

A six-week-old infant died early this morning, and the death is under investigation according to Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong.

First responders were called to an apartment at 2990 Menlo Drive at approximately 12:30 Monday morning on a report of an infant who wasn't breathing. Furlong said extensive efforts to revive the child were unsuccessful. An autopsy was performed today, and Furlong said they are awaiting the results, which could take a few weeks.

Carson City Sheriff's Search and Rescue Assits Lyon County Search and Rescue

Two kayakers spent Father's Day on the Carson River. A father and son combination put their kayaks into the water near Bertonelli's pit around 2:30pm and left their vehicle at the Santa Maria Ranch Park in Dayton. They got caught up many times on rocks and low water areas and soon found themselves in the dark and unable to continue.
