New adventure events complement Lake Tahoe South summer line-up

Lake Tahoe South steps into high endurance overdrive this summer with two new outdoor adventure events that celebrate speed, agility and skill — one with feet to the ground and the other rubber to the road.

Sierra Recon, a high-energy, multi-distance obstacle race screaming the amped premise, “Everyone loves carnage” is set for July 14 at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort, while the Lake Tahoe Adventure Motorcycle Ride and Rendezvous celebrates the freedom of the wide open road, Aug. 23-26.

House Passes Rep. Amodei’s Yerington Land Transfer Bill, Measure Now Heads To Senate

CARSON CITY – The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 4039, the Yerington Land Conveyance and Sustainable Development Act, the first piece of legislation introduced by Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., since taking office after a special election in September 2011.

Creative Acting and Playwriting Entering Grades: 4 - 8 (Camp held at Sierra Lutheran High School)

The Brewery Arts Center will offer a Creative Acting and Play Writing experience on the SLHS campus. All students will have the opportunity to experience, explore and have fun learning the foundational concepts of acting, character creation, play writing, pantomime, tableaux, theater sports/ improvisation games, movement for the stage, voice for the actor and Alexander Technique in a positive and safe environment. A final group celebration and camp presentation will be held on June 29th for friends and family.

Introduction to Acoustic Music and Singing (For ages 6 and up)

This series will introduce traditional acoustic music styles through instruments and voice.
Students will follow the development of genres such as the blues, bluegrass, Celtic music, gospel, jazz, Latin, and traditional folk music through presentations and demonstrations. Participants will be able to try out a variety of acoustic instruments. Songs will be selected by the group for a short recital at the end of the week.

Tuition: $95 ($85 for siblings and BAC Members)
Hours: 9:00 to 11:30 am Mon-Fri
Dates: Session I: June 18-22
Session II: Aug 6-10

Drop-In Karaoke Night – Idol Style! (No age limit)

Come sing your heart out once a month in front of a panel of “Idol-style Judges!” (Don’t worry, no Simons allowed!) Don your best outfit, bring your karaoke track or choose from a list provided, and rock out in front of friends and fellow participants. This is a great way to work your audition material, try out the new song you just wrote or just come out and have some fun!

Last Wednesday of the month, 5:30-7:00pm, June 27th, July 25th
$5.00/drop in fee to participate, free to watch!
