Carson City arrests: Early morning vehicle pursuit ends with flat tires and felony arrest

A 30-year-old man was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of felony eluding, a felony parole violation warrant and five misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Miguel Michael Telly Jr., of Modesto, Calif., was also booked for suspicion of driving without a valid driver's license, basic speeding 21-plus, not using a turn signal, going the wrong way on a 1-way street, and reckless driving with wanton disregard.

According to the booking report, deputies responded at 2:48 a.m. to a casino regarding threats made to a security guard. The suspect left in a white van.

At 2:57 a.m. a CCSO deputy saw a white van traveling northbound on South Carson Street at a high rate of speed. The van drove past the officer, going more than 60 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to the report.

The officer activated their emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle continued, with the driver abruptly turning eastbound onto Telegraph Street. The vehicle then turned southbound onto North Plaza Street, which is a one-way street designated for northbound traffic only.

Additionally, the vehicle failed to use its turn signals while initiating the turning. The vehicle continued toward Carson Street where it ultimately came to a stop south of the Carson Street and Musser Street intersection. The deputy notes in the report that the vehicle was disabled as both of its left tires, front and rear, were flat.

A male subject, identified as Miguel Michael Telly Jr., exited the vehicle as the officer was parking their patrol vehicle. Another deputy arrived on scene, with both deputies withdrawing their duty firearms, the report states.

The suspect mostly complied with deputy commands, the report states. He was instructed to lift his shirt, to reveal any potential weapons concealed in his waistband. The officers observed a gang affiliation tattoo.

At one point the suspect began passively resisting, repeatedly shouting "shoot me." Ultimately the man complied with deputy commands and he was placed into handcuffs and arrested for suspicion of felony eluding, according to the report.

Deputies located an identification card, and ran it through dispatch, which advised he had a felony warrant for parole violation, the report states.

Additionally, at the casino, another deputy collected a statement from one of the casino security guards, who advised he and other security guards heard a vehicle doing "burnouts" on the property's front parking lot. Security confronted the man advising him to slow his driving. According to one security guard the driver, Telly Jr., told him "what are you going to do about it? You aren't a cop, you can't do sh*t," the arrest report states. They did not wish to press charges. Bail for the other offenses: $20,000. There's also a no-bail hold due to the parole violation.

In other arrests:
— A 33-year-old man was arrested Sept. 25 for suspicion of second offense DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

CCSO deputies were dispatched to the area of southbound I-580 and the William ramp for a reckless driver. The reporting party stated the driver of a pickup had hit the center median on the new bridge in Washoe Valley and that the driver was going at speeds of 100 mph.

A deputy positioned their patrol vehicle and located the vehicle driving at an extremely high rate of speed. The deputy activated their patrol vehicle lights and advised the speeds were at 100 mph. An on-duty sergeant called off the pursuit due to safety concerns. The officer observed the driver lost control, nearly striking a center median, and then correcting himself, nearly striking the right side median, the report states.

The officer observed the driver hitting both sides of the center median and the right side barrier. The vehicle slowed to 70 mph. The officer advised to dispatch that if the vehicle wasn't stopped it was going to crash. The officer activated their emergency lights and made a traffic stop.

The driver of the pickup showed signs of drinking and had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy conducted field sobriety tests, in which the man showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .149 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI second offense. Bail: $3,500.

— Two were arrested Tuesday for drug possession and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Debra Miramontes, 63, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, misdemeanor domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $6,637.

Christopher James, 53, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
