Rasner puts it all together in Japan
It had been a tough start to the season for Carson High graduate Darrell Rasner in the Japan League, but Rasner finally put it all together in his last start on the mound for the Rakuten Eagles. After struggling and losing in his first three starts, Rasner pitched a gem late Thursday night, throwing a complete game in the Eagles 11-2 win over the Nippon Fighters. In picking up his first win of the season, Rasner pitched eight shutout innings before allowing two runs in the ninth. He ended up throwing 126 pitches while striking out six, walking three and allowing six hits. In the process, he lowered his earned run average to 6.17. Rasner said a key to his performance was an effective curveball or as the translation on the Eagles website stated, "Also good curve enormously."
