At the Chamber's Annual Meeting held at Duke’s Steakhouse inside the Casino Fandango on Monday, June 21, outgoing Chairman of the Board Jim Smolenski honored special people who helped the Chamber grow during his tenure.

A 49-year-old unemployed Carson City man faces a felony burglary charge after allegedly breaking into St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Saliman Road this morning, drinking a gallon of wine from the church's refrigerator and then passing out in the pew.
An officer was dispatched to the church at around 8:17 a.m. in reference to a commercial burglary where the suspect was still inside, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, Carson City deputies found the suspect, Kenneth Carlson, asleep in the church between the pews.

Thursday night is free wine tasting night at Aloha Discount Wine and Liquors, located at 455 S. Carson Street, Carson City. The free wine tasting is from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Parks 4 Paws will hold its annual Bark, Wine and Dine on Saturday, May 1, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Fuji Park Events Building, 601 Old Clear Creek Road, in Carson City. Mayor Bob Crowell will host the event.

D'Vine Wine on Stewart Street is for sale, according to this Craigslist ad. The wine bar announced late last year they were closing, but the owners of the Carson Nugget bought the building they were in and offered them a lower-priced lease to stay in business.

Hank Monk, the famous stagecoach driver from the early days of Carson City, celebrated his birthday today at the Foreman-Roberts house.
