Eldorado Forest Interpretative Association offers free guided hikes in Carson Pass in August and September

These hikes vary from 45 minutes long like our historical Devil's Ladder hike to three hours long like our water color painting hikes.

What happened is that a small group of committed beekeepers decided to approach the city with the idea, and then worked tirelessly for two years with Carson City Board of Supervisors and Mayor Bob Crowell to develop an organization committed to protecting pollinator habitat within the city boundaries.

A summer like no other
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 07/04/2015 - 1:48pmThe summer of 1776 must not have been much different from other summers gone and yet to come: Hot, muggy and miserable for those who had to work out in it. And in 1776 that included most people.
Like any other summer, that particular one 239 years ago was alive with fragrances in full bloom; the sounds of children playing in fields of wild flowers, and splashing about in creeks and ponds where it was cool; young animals frolicking in the fields; men and women toiling in their gardens and on their farms; and the happy songs of birds, crickets and frogs relishing in the summer solstice.
