Forest Service targets invasive plants at Lake Tahoe with herbicide treatments
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/05/2015 - 11:47amThe U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will continue a project to eradicate, control, and contain known infestations of invasive plants in the Lake Tahoe Basin using chemical treatment. Work will occur at approximately 70 infestation sites beginning May 15 and continuing through September 2015.

Muscle Powered, Citizens for a walkable/bikeable Carson City, sponsors a different hike every week. Hikes are moderately paced, usually with some elevation gain, of 1 ½ to 2 hour duration. They have been around for 60 years researching and teaching organic gardening. Through the years, I have turned to the Institute and their well-written books when I wanted reputable information on organic growing.

This exhibit highlights the history of recreational activities at Lake Tahoe such as boat racing, skiing, hiking and camping as well as the historic environmental impacts on the lake.

Submitted by editor on Thu, 04/30/2015 - 11:16amThe Prescription Round Up in Carson City held last Saturday brought in 166 pound of medicine, and nearly 30 pounds of syringes, according to Partnership Carson City. The event was held at all three SaveMarts and Smith's.
They’re something we all have but rarely think about, prescription drugs. Partnership Carson City hosted the roundup eliminating the prescription pills and liquids and collected the 30 pounds of syringes to be destroyed.
Genoa, Virginia City and Incline Village listed in magazine's top 10 travel list

Noting Nevada is the seventh largest state by area, the website describes the Silver State comes with a "great deal of open space, varying landscapes, and many small towns dotting the terrain." The CultureTrip.com website has previously featured Carson City and Virginia City area landmarks, museums and restaurants as unique or must-see stops for travelers.
