Record snow pack and warm weather impact Lake Tahoe area streams and rivers
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/21/2011 - 2:28pmA flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 9 p.m. on Friday for northeastern El Dorado and Placer Counties and includes creeks, streams and rivers near South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.
The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is cautioning residents and visitors to be aware of fast moving water and quick changing stream flows, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

New 2011-2012 recreational groundfish regulations

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) announces changes to recreational groundfish regulations that apply to state waters 0-3 nautical miles from shore. The new regulations were adopted by the Fish and Game Commission last month and took effect June 9, 2011.

If you did not draw a big game tag in the recent completed main draw, don’t give up just yet. There are still tags left for the upcoming second draw.
Remaining tags for Mule Deer - Antlered - Longbow (hunt 1341) and Antelope - Horns Longer than Ears - Longbow (hunts 2161 and 2261) will be available to both residents and nonresidents.
Secretary Of State Orders Unlicensed Broker To Stop Offering Unregistered Investments
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 4:18pmCARSON CITY – The securities administrator for Secretary of State Ross Miller is ordering a Las Vegas man to immediately stop selling or offering to sell unregistered securities until both he and the securities are legally licensed and registered with the state.
Leonard Benson and the Leonard Benson Company, which uses a mail drop address on West Sahara, was offering investments in “The Leonard Benson Private Gaming Fund” through the mail and through a website Benson operated. Benson’s website also offered courses in gambling strategy.

In honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Nevada Territory, The Nevada State Museum staff designed a unique raffle prize to celebrate this year’s coin show in Carson City, August 26-27, 2011. Raffle tickets are now on sale for the Grand Prize, featuring three special commemoratives: one ounce .999 fine silver medallion, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Nevada Territory; copper Abraham Lincoln Medallion; and brass Nevada State Seal Medallion.
Nevada to recognize carry concealed weapons permits of 15 states
Submitted by editor on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 5:42pmCARSON CITY — The Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association members agreed at a meeting last month to recognize the carry concealed weapon permits of 15 states as being valid in Nevada beginning July 1.
The states agreed to at the May 5 meeting are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee and West Virginia, according to a news release submitted by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

There were a whole bunch of winners and a heck of a lot more losers in this year’s drawings for tags for Pronghorn Antelope, Mule Deer, Rocky Mt. Elk, California Bighorn Sheep, Desert Bighorn Sheep, Rocky Mt. Bighorn Sheep and Rocky Mt. Goat.
