NV 150 Fair events continue all day long Saturday at Fuji Park in Carson City. Parking is available at Casino Fandango, with shuttle bus service to and from the fairgrounds.

The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival," in collaboration with Carson City, is proud to present five of several bands at the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair in Fuji Park on Saturday, August 2. "Jazz & Beyond" runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 17 and features over 50 events, mainly in the downtown Carson City area.

The five "Jazz & Beyond" bands at the Fair on August 2 are Sons of Slide Mountain, RVGS Tantalus, Lynne Colvig Latin Jazz, the Reno Jazz Orchestra with singer Jackie Landrum, and the St. Christopher Project, featuring the music of Tom Waits.

It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Carson High Jazz Band and the Mile High Jazz Band present their eleventh annual combined concert, the Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, 7:00 p.m., in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Cece Otto is a classically trained vocalist who has performed in venues all over the world.
She set out to create a project that fused her passions for music, travel and writing into a unique creative work. “An American Songline” was born as a cross-country musical journey that takes her from New York to San Francisco along the Lincoln Highway, America's first transcontinental road, to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013.

There is a scheduling change announced for two dates of Café at Adele’s Summer Concert Series on the Veranda. Jazz vocalist LaTisha Lewis performs Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

New World Jazz Project and Niall McGuinness were originally slated to play that date. They will now perform Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. to accommodate shortened daylight hours.

Mike Beck brings cowboy songs and the tradition of storytelling through music to Café at Adele’s Thursday, Aug. 22, as the Summer Concert Series on the Veranda continues.

A favorite performer on the Cowboy Poetry circuit, singer-songwriter, poet and working cowboy Beck is touring in support of his album “Tribute,” which showcases original horse songs written through the years, raising money for The Joyful Horse Project, a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas that pairs combat veterans with rescue horses being trained for rehabilitation.

Carson City Symphony is coming to Reno to perform for Artown! The concert is on Sunday, July 7, at 5:00 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Avenue. The program, "Movies & More," features organ soloist Michael Langham, bassoon soloist Eric Fassbender, and vocal soloist Jakki Ford. Admission is $10 at the door, or online at CCSymphony.com.

This Grammy-nominated fiddler, dancer, vocalist, and songwriting act will serve up heart-moving Louisiana Bayou rhythms, traditional stylings and original songs to an all-ages audience at the Brewery Arts Center.

Blending modern roots music to a wide audience, Lisa Haley and the Zydekats go beyond the traditional Cajun, Zydeco genre. Prepare to catch "Zydecosis!"

Make beautiful memories and ring in the New Year with an evening of fine food, libations and the jazz styling of vocalist Barbara Baxter at Café at Adele’s on Monday, Dec. 31.

Café at Adele’s in Carson City hosts a Rockin’ Apocalypse Party, Friday with live music by The Mighty Surf Lords.

“Someone posted a picture of a bunch of alpacas in a field with a message about celebrating the ‘Alpacalypse’ and I thought, ‘Well maybe we should,’” said Charlie Abowd, Café at Adele’s chef and co-owner. “There has been a lot of stress and heartbreak this year and it is healthy at times to come together with good music and community to celebrate our blessings rather than continuing the fear.”

Whether playing together or apart, Lorin and Chris Rowan have been making music their entire lives and perhaps better than most, have put the idea of living in what is possible, into practice.
