Toys for Tots is in need of volunteers for packing and distribution of toys. The annual Carson City area Toys for Tots program collects toys during the holiday season and distributes them to those families in need. Toys for Tots is run through the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City.

Farmers Insurance District office is once again a designated drop off location for Toys for Tots sponsored by U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Our office is located at 425 East Long Street (corner of Long and Roop). If any questions please call us at 434-0545.

Toys for Tots in Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties will be kicking off the season to bring Christmas Cheer to children in the local community. If you are in need of toys, the hotlines begin Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. and run through Dec. 22, 2017.

Raynna Jackson began helping with Toys for Tots at the Ron Wood center before Thanksgiving in order to fulfill her CHS Senior Project graduation requirement; she decided to help give underprivileged children a Merry Christmas.

She started by putting boxes at CHS and her mother’s place of employment, Natel Company. Toys for Tots serves more than 2,000 Carson City area kids every Christmas, and Raynna took this personally; she wanted to help bring in even more gifts. Raynna ultimately facilitated the gathering of 2 large boxes of toys.

Just five days before Christmas, the state of Nevada has ensured something under the tree for hundreds of local children in the Carson City area this year.

Less than a week to go until Christmas, Capitol Cab in Carson City finished collecting toys for its annual Toys For Tots campaign, which began on Black Friday this year and ended this morning, said campaign organizer and taxicab driver Mark Shepler.

The Sierra-Tahoe Branch and Ladies Auxiliary Unit #137 of the Fleet Reserve Association held their Annual Christmas Party at Jethro’s Oven - Grill, Gardnerville. The food was plentiful and enjoyed by everyone, along with fabulous yummy desserts prepared by Brenda Horton, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. A big thank you to Larry Knack and Rick Athenour for arranging the event.

Wonderful raffle prizes were donated by local stores, including a $100 Walmart gift card. Thank you to Sue Higgins for securing the raffle prizes and displaying them so nicely.

The Carson Victory Rollers, Carson City's hometown roller derby club, held its final scrimmage of the year Sunday in the Carson City Community Center gymnasium as a benefit fundraiser for the Toys For Tots Christmas campaign.

In just two short weeks it will be Christmas Eve. Tis the last scrimmage of the season! The Carson Victory Rollers hold their annual Red vs. Green Scrimmage to benefit the Toys for Tots program Sunday, Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Carson City Community Center gymnasium.

If you’d rather be indoors, the Carson Mall is hosting a Holiday Craft Fair, and at noon will celebrate the grand opening of Ogres-Holm Pottery. Celebrate a Country Christmas with Mary Kaye and the Kaye Sisters in Genoa or get your Celtic fix at the Brewery Art Center with a performance by County Clarke. Cookies with Santa takes place Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Cafe at Adele’s, in what has become one of Carson City’s defining holiday events. All money and gifts collected goes to Ron Wood Family Resource Center for Toys for Tots.

Broadway Properties in Carson City will host a free photo with Santa Claus this Saturday, Dec. 10. Bring an unwrapped gift or gift card for a senior or a child and receive a free photo with Santa.

Donated gifts go to Friends for All and Toys for Tots, reputable charities in the Carson City area serving seniors and children.

Michael Hohl Motor Company in Carson City is once again helping out Toys for Tots and the Ron Wood Family Resource Center Holiday Food Drive. Drop off your unwrapped toy and food donation by Saturday, Dec. 17 to be eligible to win one of three Walmart gift cards totaling $500.

Carson City Parks and Recreation Youth Programs is hosting a donation drive for Toys for Tots. We have partnered with Division of Children and Family Services here in Carson City to donate toys for the Toys for Tots program. The Ron Wood Family Resource Center here in Carson City has decided to partner with Toys for Tots to donate items as well.

Capitol Cab is once again helping out Toys for Tots this year. Any taxi can serve as a Toys for Tots drop off location, and participating drivers are also taking donations to benefit Toys for Tots.

The Toys for Tots hotlines will be open beginning from Monday, Nov. 28 and running until Dec. 23 for Carson City area families in need. The hotlines are open from 9 a.m to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 pm. Monday through Friday.

Toys for Tots is looking for community-minded individuals to help pack, sort, count and distribute toys. Volunteers also help out at our special events with our local Marines!

Semper fidelis is more than just the motto of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). It is a phrase to live by. Every year since 1948, the USMC has faithfully delivered Christmas joy to millions of needy children around the country.
That faithfulness will stand to benefit around 3,000 children this year in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

The deadline is Wednesday for donations to the Toys for Tots drive through the Nevada Department of Public Safety's Capitol Police sponsored by the US Marine Corps Reserves.

Ready for more snow? Let’s just hope that the clouds clear by tonight because the Geminids Meteor Shower is at its peak tonight and tomorrow. Don your ugliest sweater for the Carson Victory Rollers’ Red and Green Scrimmage, and bring a toy for their Toys for Tots drive. Come out and watch both the Junior Victory Rollers and adult skaters battle it out. Admission is FREE when you donate a new, unwrapped toy, otherwise it's a $5 donation. All donations collected will be given to Toys for Tots.

The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Photographs with Santa are available at the Carson Mall Wednesday through Sunday. Genoa’s annual Breakfast with Santa has three seatings beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The long weekend continues, along with great shopping, friends, family, and fun. It’s Small Business Saturday, which is a great time to explore our downtown shops, and the local businesses throughout town. Don’t miss the Christmas Kick-off at Evergreen Gene’s, complete with a visit from Santa. Carson Valley Inn hosts its annual Kandy Kane Holiday Craft Fair. You will also find great Nevada items in our Museum Gift Shops and at the Chamber of Commerce’s Artisan Gallery.

Today is a day for leftovers and crazy shopping. If your family is in town, take them down to opening day at the Arlington Square Ice Rink. The Railroad Museum of Northern Nevada has rides on the McKeen Motor Car special for this weekend. Pinkerton Ballet begins its annual run of the Nutcracker at the Bob Boldrick Theater tonight.
