Storey begins work on $2.12 million water line project; highlights $20M on improvements

VIRGINIA CITY — Storey County broke ground Wednesday on a $2.1 million water project to replace a water line originally built in the 1870s. Over 1,450 feet of new water main will be constructed to connect Virginia City to the 5-mile Reservoir.
NDOT opens USA Parkway Extension 3 months ahead of schedule

The Nevada Department of Transportation opened the USA Parkway extension at noon Sept. 8. At noon Friday, access from both ends of the USA Parkway opened, allowing drivers to travel the 18-plus-mile roadway extension between I-80 west of Fernley and U.S. 50 near Silver Springs.

Now that the highway through Gold Canyon has been closed to vehicle traffic, forcing us to use the much longer and quite dangerous truck route, perhaps it's time to question the value of CMI's presence on the Comstock.
