On the docket for discussion includes approving contracts of new and current employees, a wastewater agreement with Lyon County, a diesel tax and more.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest will open its Nevada campgrounds under Governor’s Sisolak reopening directives for Phase 2 of Nevada’s Roadmap to Recovery, beginning this Saturday, May 30.

Group campsites, group day use areas, and visitor centers in Nevada are still closed. In alignment with State of California guidance, Forest campgrounds and group day use areas in California remain closed.

MASON VALLEY — The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection says work to revitalize and restore the former Anaconda Copper Mine site continues to progress on schedule. The first phase of the project began in August 2019, and all necessary construction work at the site is on track to be complete by 2029.

RENO — A more complete understanding of the role antibody tests can play in Nevada’s fight against COVID-19 is taking shape. Scientists at the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory will soon begin to gather critical data needed before the tests are made widely available for clinical use.

Those who need help paying their rent or mortgage and utility bills due to COVID-19 are now able to seek assistance through The Salvation Army in Carson City and Reno.

Gov. Steve Sisolak says he plans to extend the state’s stay-at-home order but will begin easing restrictions on retail curbside pickup and outdoor activities after the state’s COVID-19 caseload and deaths plateau.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced a successful update of its unemployment insurance website. The agency also added and launched a performance feature on Saturday that affords filers another option to reset their online password 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation show initial claims for unemployment insurance totaled 58,641 regular initial claims for the week ending April 11, down 20,644 claims, or 26 percent compared to last week’s total of 79,285.

Gov. Steve Sisolak says he expects to know much more next week about whether conditions are right to either end or extend directives that have shut down much of the state, but cautioned that he had no “benchmark date” in place and that any easing of restrictions would likely be gradual.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation will open a new Unemployment Insurance call center Wednesday, April 15, 2020 to help assist claimants with general questions related to the unemployment insurance filing process.

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health recently received an emergency COVID-19 response grant in the amount of $98,960 from the William N. Pennington Foundation. The grant will contribute to needed equipment for Carson Tahoe during this dynamic virus outbreak.

About 700 additional Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will enter the fight against COVID-19 this week, Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday.

The State of Nevada is set to receive a total of $1.25 billion in support from the Coronavirus Relief Fund set up through the U.S. Department of Treasury. Congressman Mark Amodei, NV-02, made the announcement via a news release Monday.

Silver State Industries, the industrial arm of the Nevada Department of Corrections has launched a hand sanitizer manufacturing program to dramatically increase the supply available to medical personnel, corrections, and other law enforcement throughout Nevada.
