Four charged in Reno murder and Carson City robbery spree

After a comprehensive investigation by detectives from the Reno Police Dept. in conjunction with detectives from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, all four defendants have been charged in the murder of Steven Gale, from the morning of May 9th on California Avenue. In addition they were charged with several other robberies and related crimes in both Carson City and Reno.

Court documents show two suspects admit to Reno murder

Reno TV station KRNV Channel 4 reports this afternoon that documents filed in Reno Justice Court show that two of the suspects arrested and charged with an armed robbery Saturday night as part of a string of robberies between Reno and Carson City, have also reportedly admitted to participating in the fatal shooting of a Reno man early Sunday morning. Utah to release its first tiger muskies

The first tiger muskies ever raised in Utah will soon be swimming in six waters in the state.
Fertilizing the eggs from a Northern pike with milt from a true muskie creates a huge fish called a tiger muskie.
The tigers will be only two to three inches long when they're released. But they won't stay that size for long.

Carson City man arrested on kidnapping, sexual assault charges

An unemployed Carson City man wanted on felony sexual assault and kidnapping charges was arrested at a motel room in the 200 block of West Caroline on Tuesday morning.

Brandon Hicks, 18, is being held on $200,000 bail. A warrant for his arrest was issued on March 25 in Carson City Justice Court on the alleged felony crimes of first degree kidnapping, battery with intent to commit sexual assault committed by strangulation and sexual assault.

Final reminder of 'Hell or High Water' shoot on March 13

This is a final reminder that the Clear Creek Bowmen, an archery organization in Carson City, will host their annual “Hell or High Water” archery shoot this coming Sunday, March 13.

Carson City authorities investigate shooting; man airlifted to hospital

Carson City authorities responded tonight to a shooting where a 31-year-old man took a gunshot wound to the knee. The shooting happened at around 7 this evening near Mills Park and there are apparently no suspects.

Authorities have confiscated a 45-caliber semi-automatic gun that was found inside the man's vehicle, said Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The victim, whose name has not being released, was apparently having a problem with someone else and felt it was necessary to carry a gun. No one else was inside the vehicle. The man was discovered by friends, Furlong said.

Reminder of Clear Creek Bowmen 'Hell or High Water' shoot

This is a reminder that the Clear Creek Bowmen, an archery organization in Carson City, will host their annual “Hell or High Water” archery shoot on Sunday, March 13.

That shoot will be held at the Centennial Park Archery Range (east of the Eagle Valley Golf Course), just off of U.S. 50.

It will be a target archery competition with all ages welcome.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with competition shooting beginning at 9 a.m.

Registration fees are:
Adults: $15.
Family: $25.
Youths: $ 6.

Movie Review: 'Drive Angry' the ultimate car chase film

The movie "Drive Angry," currently playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City, is practically one long car-chase movie, starring Nicholas Cage and Amber Heart.

To fully enjoy this film you have to believe totally that there is an actual physical Heaven and Hell, not that the two are metaphors of consciousness. But don't fret about it; religious ideas don't count here.

Game wardens seek public’s help to solve illegal deer killings

Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) game wardens are seeking the public’s help to solve a criminal case of several deer shot and left to waste in Voltaire Canyon near Carson City.

Game wardens discovered one dead buck Jan. 12, and tracked the trails of at least seven other injured deer in the Voltaire Canyon area.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Six girls have been arrested after students were invited on Facebook to take part in "Attack a Teacher Day" at two middle schools.

One girl was accused of inviting about 100 students on the social networking website to participate in the event Friday, and the other five were accused of responding with online threats against specific teachers, Carson Middle School Principal Dan Sadler said.

Carson High School lockdown over, students leave campus bewildered; police investigating rumors

Carson High School officials and authorities continue to investigate rumors that surfaced among students earlier today of a planned shooting to take place on campus.

The Carson High School campus was on locked down shortly after noon today because the rumors had come from multiple students, authorities said. Released from school at the end of the day, students described the situation as confusing and frightening because they weren't told why they were forced into their classrooms with the doors locked.

Carson City men face charges after spraying windows with BBs during shooting spree

Two Carson City men face property destruction charges after allegedly shooting out 13 windows inside a building in the 2800 block of Arrowhead Drive that caused an estimated $5,200 in damage.

Eric Dean Larson, 23, faces a felony property destruction charge as well as being in the possession of a burglary tool, a gross misdemeanor. Garrett Wesley Blackwell, 20, faces a felony property destruction charge, a charge of discharging a firearm into a structure, also a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm.
