Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

Events, happenings and more around the Carson City area this Friday through Sunday

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. Capital Odyssey Relay

Capital Odyssey Relay Run

This one day Odyssey relay run will join the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay in progress for the last 12 legs of the RTO course. The relay is from Carson City to Reno. Teams of typically 2-6 runners will be running 54 miles/12 legs.

Seniors train to participate in The Dolan Running Series Bowers Mansion Country Run

On Sunday, Aug. 26, a team of residents from Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care will take their place at the starting line for a special 1-mile event created especially for the seniors, ages 66-90, by The Dolan Running Series, produced by Reno 5000.

Local Seniors Train for the RENO 5000 JR 1 Mile Series

On Aug. 26, 2018, a team of residents from Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, Reno, will take their place at the starting line for the RENO 5000 JR 1 Mile 2018 Country Run. Wearing matching team T-shirts and comfortable walking shoes, a few will have their walkers or canes in hand, but that’s okay, said Amanda Jenkins, administrator at Summit Estates. “Life is a journey and our residents embrace new experiences and challenges regardless of their age or physical abilities. They are physically and mentally ready to conquer this year’s race.”

I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: June 2-3

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

It’s not just Friday, it’s the very first day of June and I love June. We are already off to a great start with the first of the Friday at Third concerts tonight in McFadden Plaza. Shane Dwight is back to perform for this free, family friendly event. The NEA sponsored Carson Big Read event comes to a close tonight with a free showing of 2010’s movie, True Grit in the Community Center Theater. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum for a special Night of Magic with Phoenix Phenomenal.

Double-amputee joins Mission Senior Living team for Reno-Tahoe Odyssey

At the start of the 14th Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay Run Adventure on Friday in Wingfield Park, Jonah Vandever will join runners scheduled for the 7:30 a.m. start time. Only the 20-year-old double amputee won’t be running, he’ll be hand-cycling.
