Sisolak orders all non-essential businesses to close, warns of criminal penalties for noncompliance

Gov. Steve Sisolak has issued a broad emergency directive ordering, not asking, all non-essential businesses in the state to close effective midnight on Friday, the latest drastic step taken by the state to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Lyon County Commissioners approve jail change order

In 27 years of housing inmates, only two suicides were successfully committed in Lyon County’s old jail. In less than three years, three have been committed in the new facility, which opened Jan. 4, 2013.
Lyon County officials hope a set of remedies approved by the county commission will bring that to an end.

Secretary of State Cautions Businesses About Deceptive Solicitations

CARSON CITY — Secretary of State Ross Miller this week issued a warning to Nevada businesses about deceptive letters from companies that purport to be “registered agents,” but in fact are trying to mislead business owners.
The solicitations at first glance appears to be an official notification endorsed by the Secretary of State and notifying businesses that the status of their corporation requires updating, including the payment of filing fees.

NRC Orders Licensing Board to Make Decision on DOE’s Motion to Withdraw License for Yucca Mountain

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) this morning voted to overturn the U.S. Atomic Energy Safety and Licensing Board’s order to suspend the Yucca Mountain administrative hearings.
The NRC has ordered the licensing board to make a decision on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) motion to withdraw the license for Yucca Mountain with prejudice by June 1.
