Rain will continue throughout the morning, changing to snow showers later this afternoon, which has prompted a Winter Weather Advisory for the lower valley areas such as Carson City and Carson Valley. Forecasters urge motorists not to travel into the Sierra today as several feet of heavy snow will impact roadways and travel.

Dayton High School Spring sports registration for baseball, softball, field and track, boys golf has begun. Registrations must be complete on Register My Athlete by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Current fall and winter athletes must register as well for a spring sport if they are participating.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. Registration open for trail event to raise money for injured and families of fallen firefighters

Registration is open for the Northern Nevada Wildfire Awareness Multi-hour Trail Event hosted by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Living With Fire Program in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and Desert Sky Adventures. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
