Obama Talks About Commitment To Education, Keeping America Competitive, In Reno Campaign Stop

Obama’s campaign stop, to be followed by another event tomorrow in Las Vegas, comes to the state with the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 12 percent.

Crime Log: Three men arrested in Carson City for methamphetamine allegations

- Terris Lee French III, 35, a Carson City man, at 10:30 p.m. Friday. French was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of Parole and Probation restrictions. No bail has been set.
- Jose Garcia-Gaona, 35, a Carson City man, at 1 p.m. Saturday. Garcia-Gaona was arrested for an unspecified felony warrant as well as trafficking of methamphetamines (588 grams). Bail is set at $252,500.
Crime Log: Carson City man arrested on Oakland murder warrant
Submitted by T. Costa on Mon, 08/06/2012 - 3:36pmCarson City sheriff's deputies arrested Donald Tremayne Britton, 38, a Carson City man, at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Britton was arrested on a fugitive from justice (murder) warrant in his name and extradited to Oakland by the Oakland Police Department Thursday. There is no bail.
Officers have also arrested the following individuals based on misdemeanor allegations:
- A 28-year-old Carson City woman for a contempt of court warrant in her name.
- A 51-year-old Carson City woman for a petit larceny warrant in her name.

- Oscar John Stone, 49, a Woodland, Calif. man, at 12:30 a.m. Friday. Stone was arrested for gross lewdness after allegedly touching himself inappropriately while staring at a motel desk clerk. Bail is set at $2,500.
- Solomon Tobias Jacoboni, 43, a Carson City man, at 7 a.m. today. Jacoboni was arrested for third-offense domestic battery. Bail is set at $10,000.

- An unidentified man (John Doe) was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday morning near the Blue Bull for gross misdemeanor allegations of battery on an officer and misdemeanor allegations of obstruction. Another man was arrested at the same time for obstruction. Bail is set at $3,000 plus administrative fees.
Crime Log: Carson City man arrested after alleged bar fight

Cook was arrested for felony allegations of battery with substantial bodily harm after an alleged bar fight Friday night/Saturday morning, as well as misdemeanor allegations of obstructing justice. The victim was taken to Renown medical center in Reno after he was discovered by officers on a rooftop with major swelling on his face and eyes and bleeding from several places. Bail is set at $15,000.
United Way funds RSVP and Alzheimer’s care giving training sessions

Officers also arrested the following individuals for misdemeanor allegations:
- A 19-year-old Carson City man for a trespassing warrant in his name and a contempt of court warrant in his name.
- A 36-year-old transient man for disorderly conduct and probation violation.
- A 27-year-old Dayton man for failure to register as an ex-felon and a failure to appear traffic warrant in his name.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater is presenting an audition workshop to help prepare young people (ages 8 and up) to audition confidently anywhere by strengthening audition and performance technique for musical theater. This is a great workshop if your child plans to audition for THE LITTLE MERMAID audition coming up in September. - Gregory Alan Pugh, 52, a Carson City man, just prior to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Pugh was arrested for three allegations of possession of a forged instrument and possession of a controlled substance (meth), as well as a gross misdemeanor allegation of possession of burglary tools, and the misdemeanor allegations of failure to register as an ex-felon and possession of a hypodermic device. Bail has been set at $51,150 plus administrative fees.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office has released a notification of two registered sex offenders who have moved into the area. James Lawrence Varella and Troy David Heflin Jr. have both been convicted of a sex offense and are required to register with the Carson City Sheriff's Office, which they have complied with.

Mountain Bike Nevada Seeks Adventure Riders

"We're looking for riders who want to experience an epic ride across some of state's most spectacular terrain," said Todd Whear, ride organizer and event co-founder. The journey is touted as "once in a life-time experience" and is a fund-raising event for the Nevada Public Education Foundation.

Keller was arrested for possession of methamphetamine (trafficking amount), as well as the misdemeanor allegations of obstructing an officer, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail is set at $21,900 plus administrative fees.
Officers also arrested the following individuals for misdemeanor allegations:
- A 40-year-old Carson City man for failure to register as an ex-felon.
Crime Log: Carson City police arrest teacher for statutory sexual seduction

- Sean Alan Holloman, 28, a music teacher from Reno, at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Hollowman was arrested for felony allegations of statutory sexual seduction and sexual acts in public, as well as misdemeanor allegations of contributing to the deliquency of a minor. Hollowman was found by officers, publicly having what appeared to be sexual intercourse with a female, who claimed to be 16 but was later found to be 15, near Second Street. Bail is set at $23,000.

- Nicholas Charles Davis, 18, a Carson City student, at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning. Davis was arrested for lewdness with a child under 14 and statutory sexual seduction with a child under 14 (both felony allegations) as well as the gross misdemeanor allegation of possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription and a misdemeanor allegation of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail is set at $48,500 plus administrative fees.
McKeen motor car to ride the rails for National Train Day

Now a stellar attraction for rail enthusiasts and family fun, the McKeen Motor car operated from 1910 to 1945 racking up more than a half-million miles between Reno and Minden. The prestigious car became a diner and an office but was rescued by the museum when it was donated by the Bernhard family of Carson City in 1995.

- Jeffrey David Volosin, 29, a Gardnerville man, for several warrants in his name: lewdness with a child under the age of 14 (two counts) and sexual assault on a child under 14 (five counts). These warrants were issued on the 24th of February out of Carson City. Bail has been set at $250,000.

- Dwayne Kirk Snyder, 34, a Carson City man, for felony failure to register as a sex offender. Snyder was arrested near the intersection fo Carmine and Nichols streets at about 6:30 Wednesday evening. Snyder's registered address is allegedly located in Silver Springs, but when asked it was discovered he had been living in Carson City for at least two months. Bail is set at $7,500.
